Happy Fourth of July 🇺🇸 Like many others today, I'll be spending the Fourth of July with family, enjoying good food, celebrating our freedom, and watching the fireworks. But before the day gets going, I spent my morning doing what I've spent countless mornings doing over the last year...
Working on Goblin's Refuge.
Lately, that has meant learning Blender and watching concepts that once existed only in my imagination slowly come to life. Every completed model, every new mechanic, and every small step forward reminds me why I started this journey in the first place. Seeing these concepts become something tangible gives me hope that one day others will experience the world I've been imagining for so long.
Every drive to work starts the same way... I turn up the stereo in my Jeep and let movie scores take over. Pieces like Final Hour by Filip Lackovic or Undone by Tommee Profitt don't become the soundtrack to Goblin's Refuge. Instead, they inspire the scenes that unfold in my imagination. I can see a raid beginning at sunset... a lone Strider crossing an open valley... friendships forged through survival... and the heartbreak when those friendships don't last. I think about the conversations shared around a fading fire in the darkness... the fears people never say out loud... the moments that define who we become... and how a single conversation can bring hope to a world... or slowly allow darkness to overtake it.
People sometimes ask why I spend so much of my free time working on a game that doesn't even exist yet.
The truth is... I can't fully explain it.
Will Goblin's Refuge become the game that wins people over with its world, characters, and message?
I honestly don't know.
What I do know is that I feel called to build it.
Whether it reaches thousands of players or only a few, I want to be able to say I gave this vision everything I had.
On this Independence Day, I also want to say thank you.
Thank you to every man and woman who has served our country.
Thank you to those in my own family who answered that call.
Because of the sacrifices you've made, people like me have the opportunity to chase ideas, learn new skills, start businesses, create art, and pursue dreams that may seem impossible.
That freedom is never something I take for granted.
Even if Goblin's Refuge never becomes the game that changes the industry, I'll still be grateful for the opportunity to try. Sometimes success isn't measured by the outcome, but by having the courage to pursue the vision you've been given.
So today, before the celebrations begin, I'm thankful.
Thankful for my family.
Thankful for those who have served.
Thankful for the freedom to create and thankful for the opportunity to keep building Goblin's Refuge... one model, one mechanic, one story, and one dream at a time.
Happy Fourth of July, everyone.
